Celebrities and Wrestling

This is about how celebrities and wrestling are more intertwined then we may think.

Wrestlers Entering Stardom

Over the years of professional wrestling we have seen celebrities emerge out of the WWE, most notably Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, John Cena, and Dave "Batista" Bautista.

But, there is scenarios when we see celebrities join wrestling and when they do, it shows just how connected wrestling is to real life.

History of Celebrities in Wrestling

Pro wrestling has had many celebrity appearances over the years.

The following shows the celebrity and when they first appeared on WWE:

Impractical Jokers, 2018; Arnold Schwarzenegger, 1999; Mr. T, 1985;
Johnny Knoxville, 2008 ; Floyd Maywheater, 2008 ; Mike Tyson,1998 ;
Aretha Franklin, 1987 ; Snoop Dogg, 2008; Gabriel Iglesias, 2016;

Logan Paul and Bad Bunny

Logan Paul and Bad Bunny both began appearing in WWE in 2021. No one would know it yet, but they were about to rock the world of Celebrities and Wrestling to it's very core.

Logan Paul's Phenominal Rookie Year

Logan Paul's rookie year would see him team with WWE wrestler The Miz and go against WWE Hall of Fame and Luchador Legend, Rey Mysterio and his son Dominik Mysterio, where he would win his debut match. However, right after the match The Miz would betray Logan and hit a "Skull Crushing Finale" and leave him lying on the mat.

His second match would see him wrestle in the summer of 2022 against The Miz at Summerslam where he would hit an unforgettable frog splash off the ring onto The Miz, through the announce table.

His third match would see him wrestle in Saudi Arabia and go against argueably the Best Wrestler of this Modern Era, The Undisputed WWE Universal Champion, Roman Reigns. Creating some of the most spectacular moments of 2022 for wrestling.

In an unofficial match, Logan Paul would enter the 2023 Royal Rumble and create one of the best Royal Rumble moments in WWE history, going toe-to-toe sky-high with WWE wrestler Richochet.

His fourth and most recent match would take place at Wrestlemania last month against one of the greatest stars along with Roman, Seth "Freakin" Rollins. Rollins vs. Paul was in my opinion one of the best matches of the night. When setting up for a frog splash with his partner, friend, and long-time rival, KSI, things didn't go quite as planned.

Bad Bunny Ear-Shattering Entrance and Match in Puerto Rico earlier this month at Backlash 2023.

While Bad Bunny wrestled at Wrestlemania 2 years ago, every wrestling fan can agree, his match against his former friend who brought him into wrestling, turned Puerto Rican bad guy Damian Priest is the best match to date in his WWE Career.

With the news that Bad Bunny, 2023's most streamed artist on Spotify so far, was going to host WWE Backlash it was unbelievable,but what would come next when the WWE universe found out he was going to Wrestle was just Unforgettable. Bunny came out to an electrifying entrance at Backlash (The first time WWE had been in Puerto Rico in nearly 20 years) with a crowd of 20,000 sounding like a crowd of 90,000 singing "Chambea", making it become what is argueably the best WWE entrance of all-time, that's not all for he put on a great showing shown by a celebrity in wrestling.

The Significance of Paul and Bunny

While it's true that Wrestling has witnessed dozens of celebrity appearances in WWE, the reason that Logan Paul and Bad Bunny's performances stand out the most is because they train to do this. They put in the effort any wrestler would put in and they genuinely love wrestling, obviously they do because they keep coming back for more!

Together, these 2 stars have single-handedly changed the course of celebrities and wrestling by showing that they can put in the effort, blurring the lines between what's real and what isn't. As a wrestling fan, I'm definitely looking forward to seeing what these 2 have in store in the next few years and what the future of Wrestling and Celebrities will bring.
